Reap what you sew Vince Hancock, March 18, 2012 Hi every one. It’s been a busy couple days here in South East Asia. I have not had a chance to post a blog so I will start my summary now, finish it tonight and then post it all as one blog. Our last day in Siem Reap was a great one. A small group of us got up early and finished touring the remaining 3 temples of Angkor Wat. It was a very hot morning but armed with water bottles in hand, we managed to see them all. As I said before, The Angkor Wat Temples were the main goal for me on this trip and they most certainly did not disapoint. We returned to the hotel around 12:30 ish and took some time to freshen up. Rob, Katie, Yohan and I then jumped in a Tuk Tuk and headed out for lunch and then on to the markets. We kept seeing these fish foot massage places every where so Rob, Yohan and I decided to give it a try. It consists of us sitting on the edge of a giant fish tank and little fish literally nibble at your feet and leg to removed dead skin etc. It is a very odd sensation but hey, you have to be open minded to these things so I figured i’d give it a try! Check out my pictures on Facebook to get an idea. After baking in the mid day sun for a few hours, we headed back to the hotel to relax and enjoy the A/C for a while. We then met up again a couple hours later, went for a nice dinner and then off to the night markets. We capped off the evening with drinks at a bar called Angkor What? Great ending to our time in Siem Reap. The next morning (yesterday) was another early morning. The whole gang was up and ready to leave at 8:30. We boarded a bus and set out for the Thailand. There was a long wait at the border but we eventually made it thru without incident. We then boarded two vans and set out for Bangkok. This was a long boring drive and with very little leg room. We arrived in Bangkok right at rush hour on a friday evening. Terrible timing! Took us hours to get thru the city and to our hotel. Bangkok is a massive and terribly congested city. We all checked in to our rooms and then met up in the lobby to set out for a farewell dinner. We dined at bangkoks famous Cabbage & Condoms restaurant. yes, you read that right! Crazy name but a magnificant restaurant with trees, vines and white Christmas lights every where. The one odd thing tho…….many sculptures etc made out of condoms! Odd combination but apparently this place has won awards! It was a very nice night out but unfortunatley my only night out here as I opted to fly to Singapore this evening to spend a few days with cousin Lisa and get some R n R after a very busy tour. That takes us up to right now, its saturday morning, my birthday!! I just had my farewell breakfast with some of the gang and we all parted ways! It was sad to see them go as we all became family while on tour and all got along well. However, I am used to this now, travel friends come in and out of your life quickly. I have been lucky to keep in contact with so many, even returning to London to visit with one great couple I met in Egypt. I will end this for now and get ready for my flight to Singapore now. I will finish later, then post! Cheers! Hi, im back! I made it to Singapore last night safe n sound. So great to be back here. My favorite place to go indeed. Lisa (my cousin) and I stayed up late just talking and catching up. Of all my family, her and I are the most alike. We seem to have the same interests, likes and views on everything so its always a great time when we get together. Today we got up early and went to her sons baseball game and then headed off to the Marina Bay Sands for brunch. The most beautiful and exclusive spot in Singapore for sure and boasts a panoramic view of the skyline as well as the sea with all the waiting ships. We dined there and then headed home. While Lisa was preparing her work, I went to visit some American friends who live in this complex. Great to see them and catch up as well. All in all a great day so far. I will drop a line again tonight or maybe wait til tomorrow night to update you all. Cheers from tropical Singapore. Blog
