I’m Home Vince Hancock, August 24, 2011 Hey every one……well I made it home after the longest day i’ve had in quite some time. I figure today will henceforth be known as Delay Day 2011. As you read in my blog from earlier today, I started off my day by being delayed at Heathrow Airport. It turns out that the air conditioning unit on the plane was broken so they had to repair it. I was starting to (but trying not to) get annoyed considering I had a connection to make in Newark. Our 10:05 flight turned in to a 12:30ish flight and that my friends, was just the beginning of the day. Once we finally got up in the air, some of the passengers clapped. As the flight went on, the chance of meeting my connection grew from slim to impossible. As I was coming to terms with the fact i.missed my connection, the airlines told me that they would put me on the 4:30 flt for Toronto. At least there was some comfort there. The flight itself was very nice, no problems at all. Approx 45 mins from landing at Newark, we were all informed of the earthquake in the DC and the fact that we could not land there. Imagine the groans from the passengers. We were put in a holding pattern and just circled in the air until we were notified that we were low on fuel and may have to land……somewhere. We were diverted to Stewart NY and were on our way there when we were suddenly cleared to land back at Newark again. We headed back and finally landed at our destination but of course by that time, i’ve missed my 2nd connection. Upon arrival, I was assigned a new flight and went to my gate and waited……and waited…..and waited. To no ones surprise, this flight was delayed as well from back log due to the earlier earthquake. Eventually we finally got up in the air and in to Toronto. I wasn’t in a hurry to return home but after the days events, the CN Tower was a very welcome site. Im home now and very tired. It was a fantastic trip with a life time of memories, new friends and great experiences. I can’t wait to get started on planning the next one………. Blog
