Hello once again! Vince Hancock, July 20, 2012 Welcome back my valued readers, Its been a few months so I will begin by calling attention to the new and improved travelingnewf webiste. Lots of changes have been made and more to come. Please take some time to navigate around and give me your feedback. There are still more categories to be added so keep checking in. To my past readers, I hope you like what you see, and to my new readers, Welcome and I hope you continue to follow me on my journeys. My next adventure doesn’t take me to exotic Asian Temples or ancient European Cathedrals, the trip I am about to embark upon takes me somewhere more personal……this trip is taking me home. It’s been 3 years since I last visited my home of Fogo Island in the Canadian province of Newfoundland. Since then, I have traveled the world, from destinations atop glaciers in Switzerland, to riding Camals in the Sahara Desert, to sailing around a floating village in Cambodia and now……now it’s time to visit home. It’s time to go back to my roots and regale those who interested with what I have seen and to catch up on the happenings in every ones lives. Containing 11 communities with a combined population of approximately 2700 people, Fogo Island is located off the north coast of central Newfoundland. Recently featured as number 22 on the New York Times top 41 must see places, Fogo Island has transformed from a sleepy fishing village to popular travel destination in just a few short years. One of my favorite things about visiting was that things always seemed to stay the same and that was comforting for those of us who now live in big cities far away. However, although the old familar faces of home and are now being combined with that of curious tourists, it will always be home to me. I will of course go in to much more detail in my upcoming blogs once I arrive in Newfoundland and share my home coming with you all. Stay tuned, the journey begins August 2nd. Come join me will you….
